I latterly came back from a 2 week self catering holiday in Dorset. We had determined that rather than going to the beach of the Spanish coast, I would preserve some cash, take a risk on the United Kingdom’s weather conditions and travel to the stunning beaches of Bournemouth in Dorset. It would seem that I wasn’t the only one because Bournemouth beach was crammed and with all the things the county of Dorset has to provide, it is not much of a surprise.

Poole and Bournemouth are both interesting bits of Dorset to go to but the area has so much more to give. There were a wide variety of sights and sounds and places to go to. My pick of the different tourist sights is definatly Compton Acres, Farmer Palmer’s and Sandbanks beach.

I had much a great time at all these sites and would highly advocate them to people.

This was one of the reasons I resolved that my family unit and I would stay in a holiday cottage in Dorset rather than a hotel. This meant we were fortunate enough to be able to rest in a house where we felt snug and available to do what we wished.

The holiday cottage was as well a great base from which we were able journey to the localized holidaymaker attractions easy. We were lucky enough that our country holiday cottage was positioned under 30mins away from all of these attractions.

The English cottage we stayed in was close to a local public house that we often attended, where we struck up a friendship with the landlord and his wife. We found out from the public house’s landlord that Dorset cottages were very common in the region and that he often met holidaymakers such as us that stay in them. If you are thinking of going on vacation in Dorset then I would advocate living in cottage in Dorset.

The welcome you will get from the individuals is tremendous, it is much cost effective than a vacation afield and you will go home feeling unwound and refreshened.
